Institution, Major, and Hobbies

I am an environmental science major at the University of Florida. My hobbies include reading, playing the guitar, occasionally scuba diving and going on nature walks.

Career Interests

As a rising senior, I鈥檓 exploring different pathways within environmental science to better understand where my passions lie. Right now, I鈥檓 especially drawn to the intersection of environmental policy and law. I'm pursuing my intellectual interests in business, politics, and climate with the hope of one day working in environmental law. At the same time, I remain open to other career paths that align with conservation and sustainability. Whether it鈥檚 shaping policy, protecting ecosystems, or advocating for long-term environmental justice, my goal is to help create a more sustainable future for both people and the planet.

Why I chose to Attend the USF Making Waves Research Experience for Undergraduates

I chose to attend the USF Making Waves program because it offers a unique opportunity to immerse myself in hands-on environmental research while working closely with experienced mentors. The focus on carbon cycling in natural and restored mangroves across Florida鈥檚 Gulf Coast immediately caught my attention, as it allows me to study critical coastal ecosystems and their role in climate regulation. I鈥檓 eager to better understand the ecological processes at play and contribute to research that has real-world environmental significance.

What stood out to me about this program was its emphasis on mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and science communication. I鈥檓 excited to grow as a researcher while also learning how to share complex scientific findings in ways that resonate beyond the academic world. This experience will help me better understand the science behind environmental issues and strengthen my ability to advocate for sustainable, evidence-based solutions.
