Elise Langer

Institution, Major, and Hobbies
I attend William Peace University in Raleigh, NC, where I am majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. I am also a dual-sport athlete, competing in both lacrosse and swimming.
Career Interests
My career interests lie at the intersection of environmental science and medicine. I aspire to become a Physician Associate (PA) with a strong emphasis on integrating environmental health into medical practice. By combining scientific research with patient care, I hope to contribute to sustainable and preventive healthcare solutions that address both individual and global health challenges.
Why I chose to Attend the USF Making Waves Research Experience for Undergraduates
I chose to attend the Making Waves REU because it aligns perfectly with my passion for environmental science and my goal of contributing to research on global environmental changes. Being a part of Dr. Tim Conway's research on chemical oceanography will provide me with a unique opportunity to engage in fieldwork and data analysis while studying the role of trace metals in ocean biogeochemistry. This experience will enhance my technical skills, critical thinking, and understanding of marine chemical processes, preparing me for future research and a career that bridges environmental and biomedical sciences.
