The OB体育官网鈥檚 College of Behavioral and Community Sciences (CBCS) has renamed one of its longstanding academic units. The Department of Mental Health Law and Policy is now the Department of Behavioral Health Science and Practice, a title that more accurately reflects its academic programs, community impact, and faculty research.
Nicoleta Zenn, director of academic programs, and Gregory Teague, department chair, participated in a recent pinning ceremony for graduates of the Bachelor of Science in behavioral healthcare program.
Over the years, the department has expanded its focus beyond psychology, law, and policy to embrace a broader, more interdisciplinary approach to the science and practice of behavioral health. While mental health remains a central area of expertise, faculty research and teaching now also address substance use and other behavioral health issues that affect individuals and communities.
The mission of the department is to promote the behavioral health and well-being of all people, by creating, translating, evaluating, and disseminating state-of-the-art knowledge and by educating the next generation to support effective behavioral health practice throughout systems, organizations, and communities.
